
Superintendent Derrick R. Harris

Born in Miami, Florida to the late Superintendent Irvin Harris and District Missionary Ruth W. Harris, Superintendent Derrick R. Harris completed high school and accepted a scholarship to Bethune-Cookman College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the area of Religion and Philosophy. He then went on to receive a Master of Arts degree in Transformative leadership.
After being licensed as a minister of the Gospel in 1992, he organized the Master’s Domain COGIC in Daytona Beach in 1995. Ten years later he organized the Crown of Life COGIC in New Smyrna Beach.
Appointed Senior Pastor of The Crown of Glory COGIC in Riviera Beach, Florida in 2008 after his mentor role model father went home to be with the Lord, Pastor Harris was promoted to the office of Superintendent of the Greater Daytona Beach District later that same year. This position required him to oversee churches from Volusia County to West Palm Beach.
Superintendent Harris has held many positions which include Police Ministries Association of Daytona Beach, Co-Founder of COGIC Heritage Celebration of Central Florida, Secretary of the Board of Superintendents for Western Florida Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ, Bethune-Cookman University Associate Board of Trustees, Administrative Assistant State Youth Department, Community Relations Board of Daytona Beach, President of the Daytona Beach Black Clergy Alliance, Chaplin of Beta Delta Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated, President of the Men's Ministry for Western Florida Jurisdiction II and many other service organizations.
Superintendent Harris married the love of his life, Missionary Darcia L. Harris in 1993. They have four beautiful children; Di’erra, Danielle, Destiny and Derrick ΙΙ. This family of promise believes that they can do all things through Christ that strengthens them.
